Anheuser-Busch Sends More Than 150,000 Cans Of Water To Help Texas Flood Victims - UPDATED

Dallas, TX (June 03, 2016) – This month, Anheuser-Busch sent more than 150,000 cans of safe, clean drinking water to support victims of severe storms and flooding across the state of Texas. The truckloads of canned water were met by local Anheuser-Busch distributors, who oversaw the delivery to several American Red Cross locations. From there, the water will be distributed to those recovering from the deadly storms across the area.

Earlier this year, Anheuser-Busch sent over 100,000 cans of water to support Red Cross relief efforts following historic flooding in Houston, Texas. The company is uniquely suited to provide emergency drinking water due to its packaging, distribution and logistics capabilities.

“In the last few months communities across the state of Texas have been hit repeatedly by severe storms and flooding,” said Peter Roberts, General Manager of Anheuser-Busch's Houston Brewery. “Our partnership with the American Red Cross has enabled us to supply these communities with safe, clean water during their time of need. This week, we are honored to send over 2,000 cases of water to victims of the recent flooding in Dallas.”

Anheuser-Busch has a long history of caring for communities during difficult times including recent canned water donations to victims of tornadoes in Southeastern Louisiana and residents of Flint, MI combatting their own water crisis. Philanthropy is a core pillar of Anheuser-Busch and their partnership with the American Red Cross extends back to the company's support of victims of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

“In the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster access to safe, clean water is one of the first needs,” said Steve Vetrano, CEO of the American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region. “Anheuser-Busch's emergency drinking water donation program is an example of the invaluable role they play in our disaster relief in the region.”

UPDATE (June 7, 2016): An earlier version of the story said that Anheuser-Busch shipped over 50,000 cans of water. This number has been updated to reflect new shipments.
