Anheuser-Busch And The Red Cross: Celebrating 110 Years Of Partnership And Commitment To A Better World
On the morning of April 18, 1906 during a visit to San Francisco, Anheuser-Busch co-founder, Mr. Adolphus Busch, awoke to what history would come to refer to as The Great San Francisco Earthquake: a devastating 7.8 tremor that would claim thousands of lives and leave the city in ruins. Fortunately, Mr. Busch and his wife would survive the disaster unharmed, and upon returning home to St. Louis, immediately donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross as a gesture of gratitude and support to the city in need.
Fast-forward to today, as we commemorate our 110 year partnership with a $1 million donation to our charitable partners at the American Red Cross. The anniversary will be marked at a special event taking place at our Oklahoma City Lid Plant, which shares this special date as it celebrates its 30th year of operation.
“They say you are measured by the company you keep, and for 110 years, we have been proud to call the American Red Cross not only our charitable partners, but our friends,” said Bill Bradley, Vice President Community Affairs. “Throughout our century-spanning relationship, Anheuser-Busch's monetary gifts and the contributions made by our employees who participate in better world community service events have resulted in helping achieve significant milestones for the Red Cross.”
Join us as we say thank you to the Red Cross by celebrating some of our most notable efforts illustrated below:
