Anheuser-Busch's Oklahoma City Lid Plant Commemorates 30 Years

Anheuser-Busch's Oklahoma City Lid Plant Commemorates 30 Years

Oklahoma City, Okla. (May 2, 2016) – This week, Anheuser-Busch celebrates the 30th anniversary of its Oklahoma City Metal Container Corporation (MCC) Lid Plant, and its ongoing commitment to Oklahoma and its local partners. Since 1986, the plant has produced lids used by Anheuser-Busch and by the soda beverage industry.

“We have great heritage and strong relationships in Oklahoma. Our people reflect this passion by producing high-quality can lids that are used on beers enjoyed across the country,” said João Castro Neves, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “We appreciate Governor Fallin's support as well as other elected and public officials and community partners, such as the American Red Cross.”

The team in Oklahoma City routinely gives back to the local community. Last year they raised $62,000 for the United Way of Central Oklahoma. Over the last 30 years, the plant has fostered a strong work culture with a majority of employees having a long tenure with the company and very low turnover rates.

“We'd like to thank our employees for their hard work, and their ongoing commitment to the local community,” said Tim Popp, General Manager of the Oklahoma City MCC Lid Plant.

To date, Anheuser-Busch has invested more than $300 million in the state, employing 700 Oklahomans and enabling the Lid Plant to become one of the largest in the world.

“Anheuser-Busch is an important contributor to Oklahoma's economy and community,” said Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin. “The Oklahoma City MCC Lid Plant is a significant part of Anheuser-Busch's overall investment in the state. We appreciate Anheuser-Bush making more than $12 million of investments in the Oklahoma City plant during the past five years, making it one of the largest in the world.”
