Fort Collins Brewery Celebrates Ten Years of Tree Planting
To recognize its 10th anniversary tree planting event, the Anheuser-Busch brewery and the Fort Collins Natural Areas Department sent 112 volunteers and their families to plant 430 native trees and shrubs at McMurry Natural Area along the Poudre River on Thursday, May 15. Volunteers from the brewery, Fort Collins BARI facility, Nutri-Turf, MCC Windsor, Denver WOD, American Eagle Distributing Co., Colorado Iron & Metal, and the local Boy Scouts commemorated the event with a banner depicting the total volunteer hours and trees planted over the past 10 years. John Stokes, the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Dept Director, attended and kicked off the planting with a speech expressing his gratitude for Anheuser-Busch's continued dedication. Volunteers worked for 2 hours donating a total of 224 volunteer hours that day. The trees and shrubs planted will provide habitat, shade and food to wildlife in the area as well as promote the overall health of the Poudre River, one of the key rivers in the local watershed.
