Fontbonne University Science Building to Become ''Anheuser-Busch Hall''

Anheuser-Busch Foundation Donates $1 Million to Renovate Building for Students and Faculty
ST. LOUIS (Oct. 17, 2009) - Fontbonne University announced today it will officially re-name its main campus science building Anheuser-Busch Hall. In keeping with its many years of support for the school, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation provided a $1 million gift to the university to add new student facilities and renovate current classrooms in Anheuser-Busch Hall.
A ceremony to commemorate the building's dedication will be held at 11:30 a.m. today on Fontbonne's Clayton campus.
"For nearly a quarter of a century, Anheuser-Busch and its charitable foundation have supported the mission and vision of Fontbonne University, benefitting countless students," said Dr. Dennis Golden, Fontbonne president. "This latest gift - one of the largest in our history - demonstrates once again what a tremendous corporate citizen Anheuser-Busch continues to be."
The new Anheuser-Busch Hall, more familiar to alumni as the Science Building, will undergo major renovations in the coming months, including the addition of new biology and dietetics laboratories, upgraded classrooms, a modernized greenhouse, a state-of-the-art business conference room, a business library and a new student lounge. The building will house Fontbonne's science and business departments, as well as programs in fashion merchandising, dietetics, family and consumer sciences and early education for children.
"Many of the students who will benefit from these new resources and modernized facilities, will live and work in St. Louis after college, so we're glad to help these deserving students pursue a higher education," said Laura Reeves, senior director, Foundation and Corporate Giving, Anheuser-Busch. "Anheuser-Busch is focused on giving back to educational institutions such as Fontbonne, because we know the positive impact education has on individual lives and the community as a whole."
Anheuser-Busch's donation highlights the final phase of Fontbonne's $20 million comprehensive fundraising campaign. Gifts, both large and small, are going toward scholarships, renovations, new programs and more. Donations from those who would like to support the university's educational mission are encouraged and welcome. Call 314-889-1469 for more information.
