Bud Light Salutes 25 Years of Team Seebold Championship Powerboat Racing

ST. LOUIS (June 22, 2006) - The 2006 Champboat Series marks Bud Light's 25th year sponsoring Team Seebold, making the Bud Light/Team Seebold partnership one of the longest active major team sponsorships in powerboat racing and motorsports history.
Anheuser-Busch's relationship with the Seebolds began in 1981, six months prior to the launch of Bud Light, which has grown to become the world's best-selling light beer. The company first noticed talented hometown Championship Powerboat driver Bill Seebold at company-sponsored St. Louis Grand Prix races. The exciting and fast-paced nature of powerboat racing, combined with the relaxed spectator environment, presented a great marketing fit for the launch of Bud Light -- prompting Anheuser-Busch to sign on as Team Seebold's primary sponsor. In 1984 Bud Light then extended its sponsorship to include Team Seebold's race boats driven by Bill Seebold, and sons Tim and Mike Seebold.
"The Seebolds have been outstanding ambassadors for Bud Light and professional powerboat racing for the past 25 years," said Tony Ponturo, vice president, Global Media and Sports Marketing, Anheuser-Busch. "Our longstanding and successful history with the team has allowed us to reach adult powerboat racing fans that enjoy relaxing at races with an ice cold Bud Light."
During this 25-year relationship, two variables have remained consistent -- a Seebold in the driver's seat, and a plethora of powerboat race wins. Bud Light/Team Seebold have competed in approximately 219 races, and captured 14 championships to date.
"I'm really excited about representing Bud Light in its 25th year with our family and can't thank the Bud Light brand and Anheuser-Busch folks enough for their tremendous support of Team Seebold Racing," said Bill Seebold, team manager/owner, Bud Light/Team Seebold. "Over the years, we have built a successful Champboat Series team and look forward to the opportunity to bring more race wins and championships to Anheuser-Busch's trophy case."
Driving the Bud Light-branded Team Seebold powerboat in 2006 will be two-time Champboat Series Champion, Tim Seebold. After a strong second place finish in the 2005 Champboat Series, Seebold looks to guide the Bud Light/Team Seebold Champboat back to the top. This year's race boat, transporter and crew uniforms will showcase fresh Bud Light graphics and designs.
