Bud Light Along With The Roots And Friends Host Another Legendary Jam Session At SXSW

During this year's SXSW in Austin, Texas, Bud Light  transformed the 800 block of Congress Street into the ultimate performance hall and place for good times among friends for the Bud Light x The Roots & Friends SXSW Jam Session.

The Roots and their musical friends from various musical genres treated guests in attendance to one-of-a-kind performances that celebrated friendship made over music as well as Bud Light's “Famous Among Friends” campaign. Artists and guests alike enjoyed special-edition Bud Light SXSW bottles throughout the night, all while singing along with some of their favorite artists, snapping photos, toasting to friendship with cold brews and enjoying mini burgers by Impossible Burger in between sets.

Throughout the night, Bud Light and The Roots played host to 14 unique performances and more than 750 fans and friends. Some highlights from the Bud Light x The Roots & Friends SXSW Jam Session include:

  • The Roots brought played for more than 5 hours with musical friends from all over, while also playing a special tribute to the late Chuck Berry with a sweet rendition of “Johnny B. Goode.”
  • Rae Sremmurd dropped in to perform “Swang,” “No Type/No Flex” and their # 1 smash hit, “Black Beatles.”
  • Grammy-nominated R&B star Jidenna played music off his new album “The Chief,” including “Bambi,” “Long Live The Chief” and his hit “Classic Man.”
  • T.I. showed why he is still the king and one of Atlanta's finest by performing “Bring Em Out” and “What You Know.”
  • R&B star Brandy took the stage for the a rare performance and belted out “Full Moon,” “What About Us,” “I Wanna Be Down,” “Sittin in My Room,” “The Boy is Mine” and “Baby.”
  • Austin-native rocker Shakey Graves represented for his hometown and performed “Perfect Parts” and “Word of Mouth.”
  • The legendary MCs from De La Soul dropped in for a freestyle session with The Roots
  • Black Thought of The Roots along with up-and-coming hip-hop friends CyHi The Prynce and Nick Grant took the stage for an epic freestyle over a Clones beat. Grant and CyHi also performed some of their hit tracks like “Return of the Cool” and “Nu Africa” backed by The Roots.
  • Up-and-coming artists James Hersey, Frenship and Cloves delighted the crowd with some of their hits.  

The action concluded with hip-hop legends and best friends Method Man and Redman taking the crowd back to the '90s to rock out to some of their greatest hits. With the lines literally the lengths of the entire block, 800 Congress St. was the destination to be with friends on Saturday during SXSW!
