Beer Lovers: It's Time to Meet Your New Honey

Michelob Golden Honey Wheat Introduced Exclusively in Upper Midwest
ST. LOUIS (May 20, 2009) - For the first time since Michelob Golden Draft was introduced in 1991, upper Midwest beer lovers can enjoy a new beer from the Michelob Golden Family. Available beginning in May 2009, Michelob Golden Honey Wheat is a premium, specialty wheat lager brewed with a touch of orange blossom honey, combining the refreshment of a wheat beer with Golden's classic smooth finish.
Michelob Golden Honey Wheat is brewed with wheat and barley malts and U.S. and European hop varieties. The beer has a golden color and natural cloudiness, a trademark of wheat-style beers. Brewmasters selected orange blossom honey from Florida and California groves because of its slight sweetness and pronounced citrus flavors.
"Before enjoying Michelob Golden Honey Wheat, take a moment to draw in the beer's floral and citrus aromas from subtle spices and orange blossom honey," said Kristin Zantop, Michelob Golden Honey Wheat's brewmaster. "When you sip Golden Honey Wheat, you'll notice a slight honey sweetness complemented by citrus flavors derived from orange, lemon and lime peels added during the brewing process. The result is a well-balanced wheat beer with a smooth finish."
Wheat beer sales continue to grow in the U.S. as adults discover the refreshment and variety of flavors found in the beer style. Sales of wheat beers were up 14.4 percent in 2008 and distribution of wheat beer brands across the U.S. has increased 157 percent since 2004.
