Anheuser-Busch Tour Centers Transform Into Munich for Second Annual Oktoberfest
ST. LOUIS (Sept. 9, 2016) – Dirndls, lederhosen and a love of beer are all welcome at Anheuser-Busch's second annual Oktoberfest celebrations taking place in Fairfield, Calif., Fort Collins, Colo., Jacksonville, Fla., Merrimack, N.H., and St. Louis throughout September and October. During the festivities, guests at the breweries can enjoy an authentic German tradition that has been around for more than 200 years, complete with special German brews on draught plus Bavarian food, music and games.
Oktoberfest began as a way to honor the marriage of the future King of Bavaria. Originally a one-day event, Oktoberfest has now grown into a worldwide celebration, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to Munich ever year. With its own German brewing origins dating back more than 160 years, Anheuser-Busch will bring the fun and celebration of Oktoberfest to its Tour Centers for the second year.
“Our passion for great beer is as deep as our company's German roots, and we're excited to bring the two together for an immersive Oktoberfest experience,” said Julia Mize, vice president of Beer Culture at Anheuser-Busch. “We look forward to welcoming friends, families and neighbors to our breweries to learn more about Oktoberfest traditions and what goes into brewing our beers.”
Each Tour Center will feature four special German-style beers for guests ages 21 and older. The brews, which are not normally available on tap at the Tour Centers, offer something for everyone's taste preferences.
- Spaten Oktoberfest, the world's first Oktoberfest beer, is the beer of Munich's famous Oktoberfest celebration and is aromatic and savory.
- Spaten Optimator, a doppelbock style brew, has a deep, dark color and a rich, roasted malt flavor profile.
- Also from the Spaten family, Spaten Lager is a classic German lager with a well-balanced hop flavor.
- Franziskaner is a traditional hefeweizen style beer that has a fruity, fresh flavor.
Guests of all ages are welcome to attend Oktoberfest. The Tour Centers will host games, like barrel rolling and stein relays, on select weekends, as well as German dancers and live music throughout the month-long celebrations. Oktoberfest attire is welcomed and admission is complimentary.
