Anheuser-Busch Takes Gold, Silver and Bronze at North American Beer Awards

More than 1,200 beers vie for medals at the annual celebration of brewing

ST. LOUIS (June 6, 2011) - Anheuser-Busch brought home 11 medals from the prestigious North American Beer Awards earlier this month, and its newest beer - Shock Top Raspberry Wheat - earned a bronze medal in the fruit beers category.

Entries in the various categories were recognized by panels of expert judges during a ceremony on June 3 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Gold Medals (3)

  • Michelob Light - American Light Lagers
  • Hurricane High Gravity - American Malt Liquors/Specialty Lager
  • O'Douls Amber - Non-Alcoholic Malt-Based Beverages

Silver Medal (5)

  • Michelob Ultra - American Light Lagers
  • Michelob Original Lager - American Premium Regular
  • Michelob AmberBock - Munich Dark
  • Natural Ice - American Malt Liquors/Specialty Lager
  • Busch NA - Non-Alcoholic Malt-Based Beverages

Bronze Medal (3)

  • Shock Top Raspberry Wheat - Fruit Beers
  • O'Douls - Non-Alcoholic Malt-Based Beverages
  • King Cobra - American Malt Liquors/Specialty Lager

The North American Beer Awards, now in its 15th year, is organized by the North American Brewers Association.  More than 1,200 beers were entered by brewers of all sizes from across the country.  In blind samplings, panels of judges comprised of brewmasters, beer writers and certified beer judges evaluated flights organized by style.  Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded for each category at a ceremony in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
