Great People Make a Company Great

The people at Anheuser-Busch have received numerous awards and recognition throughout company history. Below are just a few examples of honors the company has received in recent years in recognition of its corporate and community excellence for being an employer a choice; for its commitment to community, responsible drinking and the environment; and for its respect for diversity.

Corporate Awards

Anheuser-Busch InBev ranked No. 1 among beer companies and No. 2 among beverage companies in FORTUNE Magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list for 2010

In addition, Anheuser-Busch InBev ranked No. 1 for product quality and No. 2 for social responsibility in the beverage industry. Prior to the combination, Anheuser-Busch ranked No. 1 in the beverage industry for six consecutive years in FORTUNE’s “Most Admired Companies” listing.

Budweiser ranked No. 30 by BusinessWeek in its annual list of “Best Global Brands” in 2009.

Diversity

Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund’s 2009 Corporate Social Responsibility Award

For the fourth consecutive year, Anheuser-Busch received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2010 Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Corporate Equality Index,” which is an annual measure of how large companies in the United States treat their GLBT employees, consumers and investors.

During the NAACP’s centennial celebration in 2009, Anheuser-Busch was presented with a “Commitment to St. Louis” award, named for St. Louis civil rights attorney Frankie Muse Freeman and civil rights activist Norman R. Seay.

In 2008, Anheuser-Busch was chosen by Hispanic Magazine for its “Corporate 100” list of companies that offer the best opportunities for Latinos and support of the Latino community.

Environmental

In 2009, California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) again named Anheuser-Busch’s Fairfield and Los Angeles breweries as Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) winners.  The announcement marked the 16th time the Fairfield brewery had been named and the 11th time the Los Angeles brewery had been recognized. The WRAP award honors businesses for reducing the amount of trash they produce, conserving resources, educating employees and lowering waste disposal in landfills.

In 2009, the St. Louis Business Journal and the Missouri Botanical Garden awarded Anheuser-Busch the “Heroes of the Planet Award in Sustainable Giving,” which recognizes the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation programs.

City of Houston’s Citizens Environmental Coalition’s “Corporate Awareness Award.”

The Baldwinsville brewery earned the Wildlife Habitat Council’s “Wildlife at Work Certification” for its work at the Stormwater Retention pond area.

The Merrimack brewery received the New Hampshire Governor’s “Pollution Prevention Award,” which recognizes New Hampshire businesses and organizations that have successfully reduced or eliminated waste.

The Williamsburg brewery has been awarded the Businesses for the Bay “Environmental Excellence Award” for the brewery’s outstanding achievement in pollution prevention.

The St. Louis brewery won the National Association of Environmental Managers’ “Pollution Prevention Award” for its recycling efforts.

Community

Anheuser-Busch’s Williamsburg brewery received the 2009 “Big Red” Corporate Award from the American Red Cross in recognition for its employee’s consistent commitment in answering the life-saving call for blood donations.

Anheuser-Busch was honored by Susan G. Komen for the Cure as its corporate recipient of the 2008 “Jill Ireland Award for Volunteerism.”

In 2009, the St. Patrick Center board of directors and staff honored all the individuals and corporations who support their mission at a volunteer appreciation party. Anheuser-Busch, the only company to receive two awards, was presented with the “Corporate Spirit of Volunteerism” award and the “Community Growth and Opportunity” award for the company’s numerous contributions.

In 2008, the Gateway Area Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society honored Anheuser-Busch as a corporate champion for its efforts to make a difference in the lives of people living with multiple sclerosis.

Alcohol Responsibility

The Street Smart team was named the winner of the 2010 Gold Star Safety Award by the United Safety Council. Anheuser-Busch and its local wholesalers are sponsors of the Street Smart program, as part of the company’s commitment to fight underage drinking and drunk driving.

Anheuser-Busch was selected as a 2008 “Fatherhood Award” winner by the National Fatherhood Initiative. The company was nominated for its “Daddy’s Girl” television commercial that encourages adults to be parents, not pushovers, when it comes to preventing underage drinking.

In 2010, Anheuser-Busch was presented with its tenth consecutive “WRAPPY” award by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program for the company’s ongoing commitment to preventing drunk driving and underage drinking in the Washington-metropolitan area.
