Bud Light Presents 2006 Army Concert Tour

May 30, 2006

Budweiser also to Honor Military with Commemorative Cans

ST. LOUIS (May 30, 2006) — Anheuser-Busch extends its 150-year history of military support in 2006 with two initiatives aimed at building excitement and fun in military communities nationwide.

Bud Light will be a presenting sponsor of the 2006 Army Concert Tour, a 10-stop concert event featuring headline acts such as 3 Doors Down, Carrie Underwood, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Big & Rich, and Bo Bice. The Army Concert Tour is hosted on military installations across the nation, and is one of just a handful of events on military bases that is open to the public. The Tour starts June 2 at Fort Knox, Ky. and ends Sept. 23 at Fort Benning, Ga. Tickets are available through military MWR offices and Ticketmaster outlets.

Budweiser will educate adult beer drinkers about the company’s commitment to the military during World War II by introducing three versions of military-themed panels on 12-ounce cans of Budweiser available in military communities nationwide.

“America’s armed forces make great sacrifices to protect our country, and we’re proud to do our part to support them through the Army Concert Tour and our custom packaging,” said Rocky Sickmann, U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant (ret.) and director, U.S. Military Sales for Anheuser-Busch. “From our founder, Adolphus Busch, serving in the Union Army to present-day donations to fallen heroes funds, Anheuser-Busch will always stand by our U.S. military men and women.”

The military packaging highlights Anheuser-Busch’s support for the military during WWII when the brewer and its employees raised a record amount of much needed funds through the sale of war bonds, ceased lucrative West Coast shipments to divert rail cars to transport military goods, and converted operations to produce airplane parts, submarine engines and food supplements for soldiers.

The three commemorative panels detailed below will appear on more than 230,000 cases of Budweiser distributed nationally starting June 12. The Budweiser military cans are being produced at breweries in St. Louis, Williamsburg, Va., Cartersville, Ga., and Los Angeles.

World War II Support
During World War II, Anheuser-Busch converted part of its operations to produce airplane parts, submarine engines and food supplements. The brewer and its employees purchased more than $28 million in war bonds, part of Budweiser’s long tradition of supporting American troops.

The Extra Effort
During World War II, brewery employees responded to a fund drive by raising more than double their assigned quota. The Army Air Corps recognized these generous contributions by building two B17 Flying Fortresses named “Miss Budweiser” and the “Buschwacker.”

Camouflaged Cans
World War II meant restrictions to conserve grain, metal and other goods. Canned beer was no longer available to civilians. But the military selected several brewers, including Anheuser-Busch, to produce special “camouflaged” beer cans for U.S. troops. Budweiser dressed in olive drab to salute our country’s heroes.

The Army Concert Tour partnership and military packaging are just two more ways Anheuser-Busch will demonstrate its long history of military support. In 2005, Budweiser launched the Clydesdales Across America/Here’s to the Heroes Tour, which allowed more than 13,000 everyday Americans to convey their support for the men and women of the U.S. military by recording a video message. The tour traveled 30,000 miles, visiting 28 cities and recording messages that aired on American Forces Radio and Television Service on military bases in more than 177 countries.

Additionally, Anheuser-Busch has donated $1 million to create the Intrepid/Anheuser-Busch Fallen Heroes Fund (scholarships for families of fallen military personnel), $1 million to the Pentagon Memorial Fund, and $500,000 to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for the national museum of the Marine Corps, in addition to donations to the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, and scholarship funds for USO members and Desert Storm veterans. Anheuser-Busch’s ongoing Hero Salute program offers free single-day admission to active duty military and up to three dependents to any SeaWorld, Busch Gardens or Sesame Place theme parks.

Based in St. Louis, Anheuser Busch is the leading American brewer, holding a 48.8% share of U.S. beer sales. The company brews the world’s largest-selling beers, Budweiser and Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch ranked No. 1 among beverage companies in FORTUNE Magazine’s Most Admired U.S. and Global Companies lists in 2006. Anheuser Busch is one of the largest theme park operators in the United States, is a major manufacturer of aluminum cans and is America’s top recycler of aluminum cans.
