“Help Budweiser Conserve the Outdoors” Takes Flight

Annual Conservation Fundraising Effort Has Raised More Than $8.7 Million

ST. LOUIS (Sept. 1, 2009) - Budweiser, its family of wholesalers, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (Foundation), five other leading conservation organizations and loyal consumers from across the United States are teaming up for the eleventh annual “Help Budweiser Conserve the Outdoors” program this fall.  To date, the program has raised more than $8.7 million to restore vital wildlife habitats across the country and conserve the nation’s outdoor heritage.

“The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is proud to partner with Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser for the eleventh year in the ‘Help Budweiser Conserve the Outdoors’ program,” said Jeff Trandahl, executive director, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.  “This collaborative program has championed important conservation and restoration projects that impact millions of acres critical to wildlife and outdoor activities for people.”

As part of the “Help Budweiser Conserve the Outdoors” sales promotion, participating Anheuser-Busch wholesalers will donate a percentage of proceeds from all Budweiser bottles and cans sold from Sept. 1, 2009 to Oct. 31, 2009 to the Foundation.  In collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service, the Foundation will then match the contribution nearly two to one and award grants to leading conservation organizations including Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl Foundation and Quality Deer Management Association. The grant money will assist these organizations in raising additional support from their members to fund important conservation projects.

As part of the ”Budweiser Outdoors” program, Budweiser will also make a $140,000 contribution to Keep America Beautiful, Inc. to support the organization’s efforts to prevent litter, reduce waste, increase recycling and create greener community environments around the country.

“This program is just once piece of our ‘Budweiser Outdoors’ initiatives that are focused on working with outstanding organizations like the Foundation and Keep America Beautiful to help promote environmental and conservation efforts that improve our world, both for today and for generations to come,” said Bob Fishbeck, Budweiser brand manager.

In 2008 alone, the “Budweiser Outdoors” program raised nearly $250,000 for conversation programs around the country.  The funds are divided among leading organizations and directly support on-the-ground conservation projects, ranging from the restoration of 6,000 acres of oak savanna habitat in Tennessee to developing a new model for white-tail deer management in the Eastern United States and the restoration of critical waterfowl habitat in Arkansas.

Since 1852, Anheuser-Busch has been committed to supporting wildlife conservation and protecting the environment.  Since it was introduced in 1995, the “Budweiser Outdoors” program has helped make Anheuser-Busch an industry leader in promoting conservation programs.  The ‘Help Budweiser Conserve the Outdoors’ and ‘Budweiser Conservationist of the Year’ programs are both successful components of the Budweiser Outdoors initiative.
